Today the jet stream has a break in the middle of it. With the trough in the NW and the break in the middle, conditions have been made to bring on more snow/rain and wind advisories across most of the US.

Where the low pressure cold front is located, is where the break in the jet stream is. Snow and rain is developing in the high precipitation areas which is the mid-northwest and areas surrounding eastern Texas.
